Marae Noho Ekaranui Rocks!
We had such a great time at the marae noho learning about our tukutuku panels that we will make over the next two terms. It was also a chance to have some fun. We sang lots of waiata, practised with our tukutuku boards, ate ice cream and pop corn. Later, we watched Ant Man in our fabulous class room. We even went swimming at the Manurewa Aquatic Centre. Big Thanks to all our great helpers that came in to support! Ngā mihi nui!

Candy Kingdom
Long time
ago there was a boy name Izayah he went walking and found Candy Kingdom. Izayah
had powers his powers were ice, water and heat. He travelled to the Candy Kingdom
because he had to save the princess name Juanita. So they can live happily ever
after.
The next day
they went to then Candy Kingdom to meet the minions; Chloe, Isaiah, and Serenity. The minions took King Izayah and Queen Juanita
to meet with king Keelan and queen Makaila of the chocolate kingdom. They
spoke about the taniwha Jahvan that lived between the two kningdoms who keeps
eating their crops.
I know said
King Izayah we will ask the Black Warrior Teretahi if he would banish the
taniwha Jahvan . The Black Warrior agreed. But sadly the Black Warrior Teretahi lost the
battle. And that is why to this day you
can hear the taniwha Jahvan singing “why you gotta be so rude (by magic)? Don't
you know I'm human too?”
The End

Fairy
World
Once
upon a time
there were two
sides of fairy
world. There was a side of
goodness and a Dark Forest. There were two
princesses. Their names were
Taylor and Juanita
and a king
who’s name was Jahvan. Juanita
wanted a boy to dance
with and Taylor
also wanted a
boy to dance with.
Boys name was J.T. and Reid.
Taylor was not happy so she went to the Dark Forest. She didn’t know where the Dark Forest
was. She didn’t know that she was
already in the Dark Forest. She didn’t
know she was in the fairy world.
In the fairy world were
crystals, little fairy people and elves.
Taylor found some monsters that lived in the Dark Forest they were scary
things. Taylor found Reid in the fairy
world and they wanted to get married, but they needed a ring. Taylor saw an Ekara in the dark forest. Ekaranui had a golden ring around his foot. The Ekara gave the ring to Taylor for her
wedding. The Ekaranui became Taylor’s
protector and of her and her fairy world kingdom. Everyone
knows the power
of Ekaranui so the dark
forest was feared
by all the naughty kids of room 21. Taylor and Reid ruled the dark forest and the
fairy world for many, many years. They
lived happily ever after with their 22 children. King Jahvan died a very poor and lonely man
because Queen Juanita married Helaman the rubbish collector from Manurewa.

Term 1 Noho Marae
Nau Ekara Nui 2015
Nau mai haere mai ki te blog o Ekaranui 2015…
Whoa! It’s week 7 already and the time has flown. Last week (Thursday 6/03/2015) Room 21 had the pleasure of undertaking an awesome noho marae experience onsite at the Clendon Park Wharenui with Room 25, Ma Cynthia’s class.
We had truckloads of support and we would like to acknowledge parents, families and friends for that support. Without that support our noho marae experience would have been very different. We also acknowledge Mrs Sue Dawson (principal), Matua Dudley Adams (deputy principal) and the SMT for their input and support of our programme.
The biggest mihi would have to go to our tamariki who were exemplary on the night. Their attitude, participation and respect for the programme was at another level. Ngā mihi aroha ki a koutou ngā taitamariki ma.
Our programme culminated with a swim in the Clendon Park School's 5 star swimming pool and a shared barbeque lunch. Ka nui te korero!

E pā ana ki Ekara Nui 2015 –
Akomanga 21
Akomanga 21 is a cocktail of untapped potential waiting for their moment to shine. Bursting at the seams their energy is boundless and uncoordinated their thirst for knowledge is personified in their pukana.
Na reira, No
mai haere mai ki te akomanga 21 hoki e mohiotia ana ko Ekara Nui 2015.
Ko tou rourou, ko taku rourou… ka ora ai i te Iwi.
We are on board with the ideology of
cultural capital as were are very proud of our culture and who we are. Our
tupuna have set their expectations for us in their kupu, waiata and purakau.
Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tuohu koe me maunga teitei
In addition we bring a few challenges
which we will target this year as a high level priority. Little things such as behavioural choices,
staying on task, incorrect uniform, lateness to class and absenteeism to name a
few.
This will be a watershed year for the
majority of us and we look forward to the many challenges that may present
itself on our learning journey and the positive attitude that we will take in
facing these challenges.
Whai
ake te ara tika mo ake
